Career Day

A fellow Panther is helping coordinate a Career Day event for our current Panthers. The event will be held on February 10, 2016. We encourage alums to attend to inspire the students on their future possibilities. If you work for a company, or own a company, interested in participating, please contact Rogelio@austinpanthers.org. Thanks!

For those of you who are interested, Austin High School conducted a career fair on Wednesday, February 10th. Per school estimates, 300-350 students visited with representatives from 21 employers and educational institutions. Many of those organizations were represented by Austin alumni. Organization representatives spoke, and students were encouraged to ask, about attaining higher education, the specific organizations, and the industries/careers represented by those organizations.
There are a lot of smart kids at Austin, with a wide variety of ambitions. I like to think that at least some of those kids will benefit from having discussions with professionals and educators in the fields that interest them.
All in all, the event was a success, though I think we learned some lessons that will make such an event even more successful in the future.
On a personal note, I thank each and every one of the people and organizations that were represented. The kids at AHS deserve these kinds of opportunities, and these folks stepped up to the plate. Thank you.
